AMP’s Creative Direction

Conductors, Composers and Performing Artists:

AMP’s co-founders proudly continue their combined decades of experience in premier management and representation for world-class conductors, composers, vocalists, ensembles and instrumentalists.

World Premiere Stages:

AMP’s co-founders have conceptualized, created, managed, and produced live concert events for the major stages of the world, including the Hollywood Bowl, Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Tokyo Forum, Lincoln Center, Sydney Opera House, Philharmonie de Paris, and Wembley Arena. These star-studded, live-to-picture concert events have included three Disney classics: The Little Mermaid starring Sara Bareilles, Rebel Wilson, Harvey Fierstein, Lea Michele, and John Stamos; The Nightmare Before Christmas starring Danny Elfman, Catherine O’Hara, and Paul Reubens; and Beauty and the Beast starring Zooey Deschanel, Jane Krakowski, Kelsey Grammar, and Taye Diggs.

Live-To-Screen Symphonic Concerts:

The co-founders of AMP pioneered the celebration of outstanding film scores by pairing them with world-class orchestras to perform them live, accompanying the film, beginning with Disney’s signature animation classic FANTASIA in Concert. This evolved into collaborations with celebrated composers such as Danny Elfman, Alan Menken, and Philip Glass to create original symphonic performance events.

Original content for the Symphonic Stage:

As a leader in the development of creative original content for the symphonic stage, AMP develops high-quality symphonic productions that engage orchestras and audiences in captivating ways.

Iconic Musicals in Concert:

AMP continues to partner with composers, lyricists, and license holders to create a new way to experience legendary musicals in concert. AMP’s premiere production of CHICAGO The Musical – In Concert celebrates Kander and Eb’s longest-running musical on Broadway, in a symphonic setting with live cast performances that instantly achieved a top position in symphonic popular programing.

Celebrating Award-Winning Composers:

Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton celebrates the unique creative partnership of composer Danny Elfman and filmmaker Tim Burton, highlighting fifteen of their classic feature films over the past three decades. AMP’s Emmy-award® winning original concert production has been performed in major world capitals, with more than 100 performances globally, and was featured on Live from Lincoln Center.

AMP’s co-founders are proud to have partnered with EGOT winner Alan Menken to create, produce, and represent A Whole New World of Alan Menken – a live performance by Alan Menken at the piano, bringing his career milestones to the stage.

Rock & Pop + Symphonic Crossover:

The musical voice of R.E.M. founding member Mike Mills is the inspiration for “Concerto for Violin and Rock Band,” composed for violinist Robert McDuffie. AMP’s co-founders pioneered the path for this piece to have an international premiere launch and to be presented widely by American orchestras and international partners.

AMP also collaborates with rock & pop artists, guiding them through discovering their music in a fresh medium—the orchestra. This portion of the roster includes the Indigo Girls and Randy Newman.

Original Content for Performing Arts Centers:

For more than 25 years, the co-founders of AMP have partnered with artists across all genres, bringing them together for “one night only” tours. These historic collaborations have included such artists as Patty Griffin, Bo Diddley, Mavis Staples, Hot Tuna, Blind Boys of Alabama, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Allen Toussaint, Charlie Musselwhite, Buddy Guy…the list goes on. The upcoming season will include performances by Anaïs Mitchell, Duncan Sheik, Shaina Taub, North Mississippi Allstars, Rebirth Brass Band, and Cedric Burnside and a newly created a cappella show produced by Deke Sharon.

Global Celebrations:

AMP represents artists and ensembles from all over the world, celebrating our diverse global community.

The spirituals and work songs of African Americans during slavery are the inspiration for Songs from the Underground Railroad, the realization of a musical vision of legendary soprano Kathleen Battle, which AMP co-founders brought to life nationwide, culminating in a historic sold-out concert at the Metropolitan Opera House.

LA Times music critic, Mark Swed, praises the Cape Town, South Africa, musical theatre group ISANGO Ensemble as “one of the world’s most innovative opera ensembles.” And Sir Ian McKellen believes that “no other theatre group in the world so successfully brings old theatre classics into a wholly African expression.”

In addition to these important presentations, AMP future tours include the Warsaw Philharmonic, Taj Express (Bollywood Jukebox from India), Velocity Irish Dance, Russian National Ballet and the Acrobats of Tianjin.
